The film does what all war films must, which is to reduce the incomprehensible suffering of countless people into the ultimate triumph of a few.. Madsen's action sequences are beautifully choreographed and shot, and the movie is packed with slick shootouts and narrow escapes, but it all lacks a certain oomph.. . This is an impressive piece of work that doesn't flinch from the atrocities that no doubt motivated Jolie to make the film in the first place.. Flame & Citron examines the moral shadings...
